Though the quality of the book is good, the binding starts to tear apart after one or two readings. The book describes parallel programming through the use of pthreads and openmp which are not very popular today. It is said that international C and C++ standards should be preferred over these. Readers with good knowledge of C and experience in setting up compilers find the book material to be very useful. However, some have found the book theory-heavy and the examples lacking.
