**** Hyenas: The Laughing Predators by M Martin presents a blend of accessible content aimed at young readers and animal enthusiasts. The book effectively covers a variety of topics about hyenas, including their appearance, size, diet, hunting versus scavenging, and communication. Readers have appreciated the organization, with one fact per page allowing for digestible snippets of information. The insights presented are deemed valuable, especially for educational purposes, and align well with more comprehensive texts on African mammals. While the information is generally well-received, some readers have criticized the depth of knowledge, noting that it may lack details desired by more advanced enthusiasts. The photos included are mostly satisfactory, although there are mentions of missing images of less common hyena stages, which may disappoint those looking for more extensive visual references. Despite some critiques regarding quality and accuracy, particularly from those experienced with animal literature, the book remains popular among younger readers. It serves as an excellent introductory resource for elementary-aged children, making it suitable for school projects or general interest. However, a few customers raised concerns about the book's price and its classification as a children's book, suggesting some ambiguity that could lead to dissatisfaction for adult readers seeking more sophisticated material. Overall, Hyenas: The Laughing Predators stands out as a solid educational tool for children, blending fun facts with engaging visuals, even though it may not meet the expectations of more seasoned animal book readers. **
