Nutritionist's Take
Fresh neem leaves, derived from the Azadirachta indica tree, are traditionally valued for their medicinal properties. They are rich in antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E, and minerals such as calcium and iron, which contribute to their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Nutritionists often commend neem leaves for supporting digestive health, regulating blood sugar levels, and promoting skin health due to their cleansing properties. However, potential drawbacks include their bitter taste, which may not be palatable to everyone, and the risk of mild toxicity in large quantities, particularly for pregnant women. While neem leaves are suitable for various diets, including vegetarian and vegan, they should be consumed in moderation. Overall, when incorporated thoughtfully into a balanced diet, fresh neem leaves can enhance wellness, but consumers should be aware of proper usage and consult with a health professional if unsure.
