Mystery & Thrillers Editorial Review
This editorial review of Barbara Loden's film "Wanda" highlights the poignant and personal nature of the movie, as it was written, directed, and starred in by Loden herself. The film follows the story of Wanda Goronski, an unstable housewife and mother who feels disconnected from her life and relationships. After a series of unfortunate events, Wanda ends up entangled with an abusive man named Norman, leading to a lonely and desperate journey. The reviewer emphasizes the film's haunting quality and its ability to evoke a profound sense of loneliness and despair, particularly through the powerful portrayal of Wanda's character. They praise Barbara Loden's performance and the authenticity brought by the supporting cast, who were locals rather than professional actors. Overall, the reviewer recommends "Wanda" as a film that everyone should watch at least once, praising its realism, emotional impact, and unique storytelling style that was ahead of its time. **
