Action & Adventure Editorial Review
The Beast (Two-Disc Special Extended Version) brings back the classic TV mini-series that originally aired in 1996, now presented in its uncut version. With a runtime of 2 hours and 56 minutes, this edition boasts improved picture quality compared to its laserdisc predecessor. Fans appreciate the unique cast featuring familiar faces from Australian soap operas and the blend of drama and thrilling encounters with a giant squid, portrayed with impressive special effects. Although the sound is in mono rather than stereo, the overall production remains engaging for those who appreciate creature films. The anticipation for the uncut version has been met with enthusiasm from viewers who have missed this gem over the years.
